Our Mission
Britain's food culture is undergoing a quiet revolution. In the last decade, the number of artisan cheesemakers has doubled. English vineyards are winning international gold medals. Foraging has moved from fringe to mainstream. Rare-breed farming is booming.
Yet most people still buy their food from the same five supermarkets, unaware that extraordinary alternatives exist within miles of where they live.
We built Great Food Britain because we believe the gap between “remarkable producers exist” and “people find them” is simply a discovery problem. When someone types “cheese shops in Kent” into Google and finds a beautifully presented, well-reviewed independent cheesemonger, something magical happens — they visit, they buy, they tell their friends.
That's our mission, made concrete: be the best possible answer to every “[food type] near me” search in Britain.
What We Are Not
We are not a marketplace. We do not take commissions on sales. We are not a review site run by algorithms. We are a curated, editorially-led directory — more like a great guidebook than a search engine.
The GFB Verified badge is awarded by our editorial team after review. It cannot be purchased. It means something.
